We define data management as the tasks necessary to manage data, which includes overseeing its quality, lineage, usage, and deployment across systems, organizations, and user communities. This encompasses the processes, skills, and supporting tool sets that make data management an enterprise-level effort. We see data management as a business function, which like any other strategic areas of the organization requires governance and structure.
